The name “Kawell” comes from the Mapuche word for horse— a symbol of quiet strength, endurance, and steadiness. Our brand is built on the belief that true innovation in animal care should reflect the same qualities.

Kawell USA

Kawell USA began as a project to develop products based on copper to take advantage of its antimicrobial properties and benefits in providing solutions to diseases associated with horse hooves. In our first few years, we devoted great efforts to achieve a special copper alloy that allowed us to make horseshoes with 85.5% copper content, while maintaining similar features as steel horseshoes. We have expanded our product line-up while staying true to using natural extracts to provide healing benefits to all pets and animals.

The Care Continues

After the company completed extensive studies on the effectiveness of the copper alloy with the prestigious University of Chile, it obtained certification from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in the United States, along with the exclusive patent for the alloy. This allows us to be the only company able to guarantee the alloy’s effectiveness in killing bacteria and fungi.

As the company evolved, we developed a new line of products based on natural extracts that have been used for centuries by the ancestral peoples of South America for both the equine and pet worlds.
